I often write to cope with the things that are happening to me or to the people around me. When I feel like crying, I find that writing something down, even just a sentence, can help me feel better. After seeing how Dementia shaped the later years of my aunt and how it is currently shaping my grandmother’s life, I felt like i had a lot to say about it.
Bookmarked Life is an ongoing poetry collection that is my coping mechanism for the pain that dementia has caused my family. It has helped me and I hope it helps you, if just a little. I was inspired by an awesome TEDtalks episode about preparing for Alzheimer’s and dementia.
